Choosing Carpet for Your Office
by Susanne Slizynski
When choosing a carpet for your office you will need to decide what type of look you want. If you are looking for a Formal, Dressy or Elegant appearance to your office you will want to choose what is called a cut plush or velvet texture. This texture has a sheen to it and appears to change colors as it is viewed from different angles.
When selecting a cut plush:
For a solid color Plush you will need to budget $30-45 per square yard.
If you choose a solid color cut plush you should stay with medium valued tones. Too light will show soil, too dark will show every piece of lint. Choosing a multi-colored cut plush or a plush with surface texture is a better choice for the orthodontic office.
If you are looking for a more casual feel to your office, you will want to choose a loop pile texture. Loop pile carpets do not have a sheen, the emphasis is more on texture.
When choosing loop pile carpet:
Because a loop pile has a lot of surface texture you can choose lighter colors. The texture helps hide soiling. The more texture the more it hides.
Due to technological breakthroughs we are now able to select from some beautiful loop pile designs.
For a low to mid quality loop pile you should budget $25.00 to $28.00. For a highly styled loop pile, budget $30.00 to $38.00 per square yard.
Loop piles will wear better than cut plush piles.
