The Orthodontic CYBERjournal
The Angle Orthodontist has been one of the most highly regarded sources of orthodontic research articles since its inception. Now there is a new way to use this vast storehouse of knowledge.
I recently had the opportunity to review the new CD-ROM version of The Angle Orthodontist© available exclusively through 3M Unitek. The CD is extremely well organized and allows a very detailed search of its entire contents. The CD comes in both WindowsTM and MacIntoshTM formats and is arranged in a way that is quite easy to navigate.
The articles are complete, with figures, images, and tables only a "click" away. Any table etc. that is opened appears as a separate window that can be viewed in context with the article. This avoids the difficulty of utilizing a table or figure when the text of the article cannot be viewed at the same time.
The search engine is an efficient, yet easy use of Boolean operators. For example the search can be structured to include or exclude specific topics through the use of "and", "or", or "not". Also "near" can be used with control over how many words away the related key words are found.

Contact your 3M Unitek representative. Their phone numbers world wide can be found on 3M Unitek's new web site. Also check out Optmedia's other products such as The American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics both on CD-ROM available exclusively through 3M Unitek.
