Wires and expansion screw on model.

Acrylized model. Be sure to leave about 3-4mm of
wire free at edges of acrylic.

Once acrylized, the Nance portion should be trimmed
so that there are no sharp edges. Cut off any excess wire
from the spring arms and make sure they intersect the mesial
sides of the molar sheaths.

Make final adjustments in the Pendulum Appliance.
The appliance is fabricated so that it is passive.
If the bands with lingual sheaths are on the model,
the activation can be completed in the laboratory.

When the appliance is ready to be placed before activation,
a final bend is placed on the end of each spring where the wire
will insert into the lingual sheath.
This bend should be made with a round-edged plier.

Anterior retention of the Nance button should be in
four locations (two mesial and two distal) to prevent the
button from lifting anteriorly with the activation of the
TMA Pendulum Springs. The entire appliance is usually
occlusally bonded on either the permanent or deciduous
teeth. For greater stability, the first bicuspid can be banded
and the retention wire soldered to the band. We have
had great success with only one span of wire being
inserted into the lingual sheath instead of employing
the double-back bend previously used. This greatly
simplifies insertion and removal of the spring arms.
