Great Lakes Orthodontics, Ltd. introduces AbsoAnchor Micro Implants, a new orthodontic treatment system designed to control and manage anchorage based on directional force mechanics. The use of micro implants has broad clinical application including retraction of teeth, protraction of the posterior teeth, molar uprighting, molar distalizing, midline correction, intrusion of anterior and posterior teeth, and correction of occlusal canting. Micro implants do not require osseointegration, have nearly no anatomical limitations to location, can be fully loaded immediately after placement, and are removed at the end of treatment. They are easy to insert, safe, cause little or no discomfort, and are simple to remove. Uniquely designed with a smaller diameter of 1.2mm to 2.0mm, AbsoAnchor micro implants allow for easy insertion into many previously unattainable areas of the maxilla and mandible. Ideal for both self-tapping and self-drilling driving methods, AbsoAnchor implants are made from high quality titanium alloy, feature a variety of head types, and accept all orthodontic systems including wires, ligatures, elastomers, and springs.Micro implants from Great Lakes are available in a kit or individually. Also available from Great Lakes is "Microimplants in Orthodontics," a new book written by pioneers in micro implant technology and AbsoAnchor developers J.H. Sung, H.M. Kyung, S.M. Bae, H.S. Park, O.W. Kwon, and James A. McNamara, Jr. ![]() |
